Life is seriously good for Sassy Wilde.  She¹s had her first kiss, she has
the two bestest bezzies ever, and her rock-chick dreams are on the verge of
coming true.

But just as everything's set to take off, her new boyfriend starts acting
weird - and then the record company turns Sassy's world upside down!

Sassy feels like giving it all up,  until a real disaster strikes. Now's not
the time for Sassy to pack away her guitar, cos her talents are needed more
than ever . . .

YoungWriters.co.uk – Teachers' Recommended Read July 2010 '

Seriously Sassy is a delightful, light-hearted and fun series that will hugely appeal fans of Cathy Cassidy and Jacqueline Wilson.'

Seriously Sassy

Leicester Library Service - Book of the Month Choice - Seriously Sassy 'The first title in a series that should prove popular, featuring strong-minded eco-warrior Sassy. Mixing green issues, music and boys, this fast-paced story is bound to appeal to a wide range of girls.'

Starburst jacket
Thirteen-year-old Sassy is a true twenty-first century girl. She's puzzling out the mysteries of parents, boys and why people can't be more like dolphins, and confronting big questions like . . .

Can she become a singer–songwriter and save the world too? (More importantly, can she get Dad to pay for a demo?)

And does sharing a chocolate chip muffin with Magnus Menzies mean true love, or just a mid-morning
snack . . .?

Starburst jacket

‘I sing cos I care about things. I’m not gonna change just to be famous!’

In Sassy’s second book, suddenly she’s in a whirl of bezzies and boys. It’s not just her guitar strings that are twanging – it’s her heart strings too . . .

Maggi’s also got lots of friends, like Cathy Cassidy. Cathy writes books too, when she’s not rattling around in her camper van that is!

Writing Tips

So you want to be a writer? Here are Maggi's Top Tips!

There’s NO right or wrong way to write. You can write just the way you speak, or you can create a voice to write in, like I do with SASSY.

  • Lose yourself in the DREAM-ZONE so you can think up characters and stories.

  • Write about things you feel strongly about. So there’s a teacher at school bugging you? Make up a story about that. There’s no decent clubs or cafes for your age to hang out? Write about a group of friends who try to do something about it. There’s someone you’ve got a BIG CRUSH on, who never notices you? Make up a story about that. And what’s great is this - you can make it end the way you want it to!

  • Be a people-watcher. Writers have to OBSERVE a lot. Write descriptions of people you see. Start with writing a description, then use your imagination. INVENT a past for a total stranger. THINK UP a problem they have to deal with. CREATE a friend for them. And an enemy for them. There you go - you have the beginnings of a story!

  • On your own - or with best friends you trust - read bits of your story out loud. LIVE the story and HAVE FUN! Be as SILLY as you want!

  • Keep an EXTRA SPECIAL SECRET STORY NOTEBOOK - just for you. Jot down ideas.

  • Read OODLES OF BOOKS! Talk to friends about them. You’ll start to understand why some books work really well for you and others don’t.
